Hi, I’m Ryan Hersey! Welcome to my personal website.

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Astrophysics at the University of California Santa Barbara. My research focuses on optical design for large observatories. I am currently working on metasurface optics for high contrast imaging. Read about it under the Research tab. You can also find my CV and a list of publications.

I also do astrophotography for fun! You can find a repository of images I’ve taken under the “Astro Pics” tab. Otherwise, I enjoy surfing, golfing, soccer, and any other excuses to be outside.
